February 2022

Juliet was feeling lonely, broken, anxious and taken advantage of.Years of existing since her divorce.

She realised that she was unhappy, her relationships needed to be less all giving.’Waifs and strays’ as Rosemary calls it!

One night, frustrated after another friendship showed its true colours, she ventured online.

Sue was in the same boat

-long time single, previous relationships having been one sided and unfulfilling .

A lifetime of looking after her Mum and putting her own life on hold.

Sue contemplated change.

Juliet and Sue started to chat.

They soon realised they had interests in animals, crafting, reading, camping and lots of music in common.

They chatted on the phone through the night sometimes, each being a confidante to the other.

Hard questions were asked and answered by both.

They really began working through some deep aspects of their lives with each other unwittingly.

This brought on real change in how they observed the stumbling blocks of their own lives.

Therapy at its best!

April 2022

First physical meeting in Belper -chosen as it was roughly halfway between Barnsley and Tamworth.

It appeared to be the doggie capital of the universe which was amazing!

They found that they got on really well in person as well as on the phone.

Juliet was at a crucial point in her counselling studies so the contact wasn’t as fervent as before which worried Sue ( no need).

11th June 2022

Sue’s nephew Alex was 40 and Juliet was invited to his birthday party at The Plough and Harrow in Sutton.

She accepted although it seemed soon into the friendship to meet the family.

Juliet was going back home that night- she didn’t want to trouble anyone by staying.

It became late, dark and a long 90 miles back to home. They bopped the night away and it was a late finish.

Juliet decided to stay overnight at Sue’s home in Tamworth.

It wasn’t long before that the two realised that their relationship was changing from friendship to more than that….

15th July 2022

Sue and Juliet went off to St Austell Pride for the weekend.

A whole new experience for Juliet-not knowing much about gay visibility -still coming to terms with real life grown up life after a long period in single dom after her divorce.

The crowd were very welcoming and it was natural to show affection in public without shame. Finally, they were able to shake the shame of being a couple in public. It felt amazing.

28th July 2022

Sue and Juliet took the old camper Romahome on a Cornwall trip to see relatives.

A discussion about pensions came about whilst they were thinking about what to do that day. Sue said it was a shame her Civil service pension would go to the government on her demise, it would be better for them to maybe get married?

Excuse me-Was that a proposal?

Yeah go on then!

Both seemed surprised but also oddly comforted as it seemed a natural progression.

Sue and Juliet felt that they had known each other forever.

If past lives are a thing then they aren’t new to each other and it wasn’t coincidence that the planets had aligned around the same time.

December 2022

Sue packed up and started her new life in Barnsley,South Yorkshire with Juliet.

They swapped the camper for something much bigger, bought a property, adopted a dog and Sue retired.Juliet took redundancy and became a Counsellor.

They planned the wedding and intend to live happily ever after.

Thank you for being part of their lives, they are eternally grateful for your support.
